The price is so low 70% of the phones selling today in the US, Japan, England, and of course China are 5G. 5G still does nothing important, but the price is so close it's is taking over the market. I just gave in.
Dish is de facto giving one away. The new Celero is 6.5", has 3 rear cameras, a 4,000 mAh battery with 15W fast charging, and the SD card slot the iPhone doesn't include.
I prepaid $279 for a year's service at $23/month,
a buck more than the cheapest deal I know from a reputable vendor, Tracfone. But Tracfone only gives me 1 gig; Boost gives me 35 gig before slowing me down.
I don't know if Boost will run on T-Mobile or AT&T after Dish switched networks. AT&T usually is 50-125 Mbps down, T-Mobile is over 200 Mbps in half the country. Either can usually deliver half a dozen HD signals and everything I do on the web.
Of course I'd rather have a $1,000 iPhone, with a much better screen and camera. But the price is right and my budget lean.
